| Thavius Beck's latest release finds him creating musical landscapes out of bits of hip-hop, industrial and glitchy electronica. His densely layered beats come at you fast and furious, often leaving the singers (Saul Williams, Nocando, 2Mex, Mia Doi Todd, and Thavius Beck himself) with little breathing room for their lyrics to resonate. As a result, Beck's best moments come on the instrumentals like "The Storm Before The Calm" and "He's Back" where he provides food for your hips, without starving your brain in the process. It's during these tracks that Beck's creativity is at its' peak and his production skills are sharpest. - Losing Today |
