| This Tempe, Arizona-based instrumental post-rock band sounds like an electronic Explosions in the Sky, or an American M83 minus vocal samples (reviewers have also compared them to Múm, Tortoise, Stereolab, and Boards of Canada). Brothers Jared and Michael Bell are the core of the group; Jared’s vintage keyboards and Michael’s forceful, sometimes freeform drumming give the band a unique sound (spiced with a bit of guitar distortion at times, and even horns on “Astrology Days”), despite all those comparisons. Call it laptop with balls. -The Big Takeover |
