| It sounds simplistic, but few electronic acts ever go for full-on optimism. The Bell brothers aren't interested in the negative: their full length debut, Love Your Abuser keenly plumbs the depths of good cheer with lush melodies and a rich sampling of electronic textures. What keeps the album from sounding precious is a certain contemplative quality and clear attention to song structure. The Bells love their melodic moments: lone piano ripples like sonic pools on "Idle Wires," while the cinematic "Fall Bicycle" could provide a percussive soundtrack to your coolest drug induced dreams. - XLR8R |
