| Enough now with the definite article. It's getting boring. Appropriate as it may be - The Magnificents are in fact magnificent - in an age of every two-bit chancer chasing the garage rock dollar it's a turn off and a potential bullet to the foot, and with this stunningly raucous blend of ramshackle punk and crafter Rapture-esque dance The Magnificents needn't resort to clichéd sloganeering to get themselves ahead of the pack. Living the dream as it should be - scuffles, arguments, injuries, drugs - this Edinburgh four-piece make like a robo-Iggy; throwing shapes to a fusion of Stooge power rock and a wealth of metallic techno loops. It certainly shouldn't work, but accompanied by the teeth-gritted vitriol and sweat-drenched punishment of The Magnificents you'd be a foolish man to disagree. Now, that name... - Logo |
