MG-206 The Magnificents - Ring Ring Oo Oo  Rock is daring again with the release of Ring Ring Ooo Ooo, the synth-crazed, warped guitar head-rush EP from The Magnificents. The title track is lifted from (and a prelude to) the band’s next full-length release, Year Of Explorers. With pitch-perfect dance-rock production, an infectious chorus, and a Simple Minds produced by Devo using equipment from The Clash’s basement aesthetic, the track is destined to make a mark. Four new and previously unreleased tracks indicative of The Magnificents current capabilities, and the final track, a Mogwai remix of fan-favorite “Blueprint” from The Magnificent’s debut, round out this fine release. |

| These days, it's a little passé to berate Russell Brand. His shaggily coiffured bouffant and pseudo-Victorian disposition has somehow conquered a wave of public disaffection. But what of his musical inclinations? Well, by championing Edinbugh avant-gardes The Magnificents, it seems the flamboyantly attired one has a more delectable taste in tunes than TV shows. Pulsating like a psychedelic freak-out, new EP Ring Ring Oo oo is a sharp blast of transient synths and ragged Beta Band-esque percussion. With its looping bassline and warped lyricism the title track opener will undoubtedly cavort across dancefloors like a jellified Gary Numan. The cyber-punk massacre of "Caught In A Cyclone" proves to be the EPs most intelligle moment, before veering headlong into the frothing electro-acid vat of "Back To The Dog Palace" and "Keep Running."
