| I must admit this album caught me by surprise. Ex-Company Flow man Bigg Jus has just gone and released the most significantly political hip-hop album of 2005. Poor People's Day flies in the face of what most people understand hip-hop in 2005 to be about, this is anti-bling at its furthest extremity. Taking a sideways glance away from the mighty NMS albums Jus here hooks up with next level producer Dj Gman on this thirteen track album. At first listen it's back to the Funcrusher Plus vibe rather the outer alien funk of NMS. Jus' lyrics are brutally to the point with an intelligent perspective and Gman's production is dense slug funk with surprises round each corner, the ultra raw. Check "Energy Harvester (Swallow The Sun)" for the instant megahit. Mightily recommended hardcore thoughtful hip-hop. - Boomkat |
