| LA-based sonic adventurer Alfred Weisberg-Roberts (aka Daedelus), has always relied heavily on cut ‘n’ paste sampling to create his complex soundscapes and welcomed a panoply of guests on board. But for his fourth album he’s returned more to the (live) source and gone it alone. Denies the Day’s Demise is a dazzling display of digital alchemy that plunders everything from tropicalia to minimal techno, Richard Rodgers to Krautrock, hip-hop to Bernard Hermann. Flickering broken beats are the only constant here – aside from Daedelus’ crucial, visionary cool, of course. - BBC |
