| Daedelus, AKA Alfred Weisberg-Roberts, exists on the fringes of Los Angeles alternative hip-hop culture, the place where the beats bleed into rather more leftfield sounds of electronica, the world of Mush Records and Anticon. His new album is a sampledelic mash-up full of crash-bang-wallop and, upon extended listening, laced with much Latin spirit. There's no real songwriting, apart from one number, 'Viva Vida', but as an exercise in inventive club-centric (club-eccentric) noise-making it's an enjoyable journey. - Beatmag |
