| In Greek myth Daedelus was the guy who built the huge maze called the Labyrinth and his modern day namesake's productions are equally complex. Especially since, when first entering his new album, there doesn't seem to be any design to it at all and there are plenty of pitfalls and dead ends as he squeezes together Club Tropicana melodies, Squarepusher-style beats and blasts of electronic noise. But familiar features like the Latin percussion on 'Sundown' and 'Petite Samba' do eventually emerge to stop you from getting totally lost and braver listener should find it worth exploring - although be warned that it may take you some time. - Touch |
