| Leave it to the Scrabble-playing, pork chop sportin', Civil War costume buff to assemble what sounds like scrapped audio files into a strong and elegant album. Because he has played in bands, Daedelus understands song structure differently than other producers and DJs. It seems like he finds a new sound, then goes wild and creates a composition around it. Then he'll pick another sound and go to town with it. Is that the secret formula of his success? On certain tracks, I hear clubby, early-rave beats from the '90s mixed into the production. The deep bass hits heavy on those. On other tracks, you might hear traces of vocals, but the bulk is heavy beat production and exotica-influenced sounds. Once again, Daedelus proves to be a musician's musician. - Giant Robot |
