Kids Now is the four track debut EP of Edinburgh, Scotland’s the Magnificents. Though born blessed with an ability to write hook-laden pop, the Magnificents’ are too rude to care. The title track is a steely stare down to hipsters on the dance floor; “Magnicide” is a shuffling rocker blending equal parts Joy Division and Klaus Schulze; live favorite “Tannoy” is a sprawling electro-punk ballad, almost heretically nudging past the five minute-mark; closer “M-Kids” is a stripped down remix of the title track. Kids Now is an intimidating first salvo; cool kids take note, your idols are on notice.
