| So-Called Artists are rambling and confused, neither of which are criticisms. Comprised of Sole, Alias and Dj Mayonnaise of Anticon - the promiscuous hip-hop collective who cite the likes of Radiohead, Hood and Third Eye Foundation as influences - state their aesthetic succinctly with the rap "The concept is, I have no idea." This lack of clarity is compelling. Sole and Alias are as likely to imagine themselves living on Neptune, soliciting demo tapes via meteorites, as they are to appropriate mundane complaints from a neighbor in their raps: "Practicing or playing at 3:30AM is just not appropriate," they assert, "Please tone it down / Definitely the bass." Turn it up. - Ammo City |
