| Home Skillet Remix: This is a mental free jazz remix of one of Pedro's (James Rutledge) tracks. I know Home Skillet because Koushik, whose stuff I've released on my label (Text), is one of the members. This is a new project for them; I think they've done a remix for The Webb Brothers as well. This track is exciting and interesting because it's basically free jazz, which is something I'm really into, though it also has its roots in hip-hop. It reminds me of the bands No Neck Blues Band and Sunburned Hand of Man: they're these acts who release something like six or seven albums a year of crazy, improvised music. They're all influenced by the free jazz that came out in the late '60s and early '70s: there seems to be a rise of that again and this remix celebrates that influence. (Four Tet) - Jockey Slut |
