| Never trust a music journalist with a thing as precious as language: they will only do terrible things with is, like inventing the phrase 'indietronic.' No wonder that Her Space Holiday main man and former indietronic star Marc Bianchi has junked the electronica of HSH's previous five albums and gone rooting for a new sound. Album six sounds like he found it under the front porch, cooried up with former touring buddy Conor Oberst and wearing a faded alt-country T-shirt. From catchy opener "The New Kid Revival" to the scuzzier "Four Tapping Shoes And A Kiss," the record is and unashamedly jolly, acoustic meander. With melodies only a cold-hearted Obama-hater could dislike, Bianchi makes the most of an unremarkable voice to get his listeners humming along. - Sunday Herald |
