| Built on the imagination and intellect which made Company Flow one of the most farsighted hip-hop acts of the late '90s, Bigg Jus' second solo album is an ambitious attempt at a wake-up call for a complacent America. With Atlanta producer DJ Gman providing lurching Armageddon and mournful contemplation for Jus to rage and wring his hands to, the attacks of globalization, the US government and wars waged in the name of religion squarely hit their mark. Not easy listening, but it's refreshing to have a voice willing to push rap beyond the comfort zone of the VIP room. - Q |
