| Checked out this CD over the past day (It's streaming from their site). Some pretty cool stuff. Falling in that Post-rock experimental instrumental category, Lymbyc Systym is a duo from Arizona that’s been around since 2001 (thanks to their Last.fm bio). Off the top of my head I’m feeling a very The Album Leaf vibe with just a hint more electronic elements thrown in. Quick faves – "Ghost Clock" is more upbeat tempo-wise than most of the album and has an excellent inner hook… I really dug "Teddy" & "Late Night Classic" as well. More subdued and more full of some other soundscapes (environmental elements can be heard sprinkled through these). Overall as my first exposure to these guys, a strong solid album (I believe it’s their second release...). Makes for good background listening but also works when giving it your full attention. Worth checking out for sure. - Spipasucci |
