| Aesop Rock vomits a mass of molasses on the track with voice deep as Big Rock of Heltah Skeltah and a vocabulary of Webster. His new release, Float has been long awaited in the underground, with guest appearances by Slug, Vastaire, and Doseone. The first six tracks bombard you with intricate rhymes in a steady cadence which sweep you away like a syrup tsunami and wash you up gasping for breath on the shore of "Basic Cable:" "Television / All hail grand pixilated god of fantasy murderscape and perspective / Fuck a sore channel change digit / I sit with a nasty network intravenous plan / With a staple diet of my cable pirate / I wanna donate my brain to the monstrous Panasonic profit." Doing most of the beats and eerie production himself, Aesop weaves dirt and air to create himself. Laced with cutting observations and a direct perspective, his voice intimate with each beat, I was hypnotized throughout duration of this twenty track disk. Highly recommended to those tired of the current jigginess and low brow punch lines. - Trick |
