| It's no surprise that indie-rockers can be a sensitive bunch, but you'd be hard pressed to find a more confessional album released this year than The Young Machines. For his latest Her Space Holiday release, mastermind Marc Bianchi - who recently broke up with longtime girlfriend/collaborator/muse Keely Chanteloup - sounds like he got all the lyrics from his own tearstained diary. Following the album's lighthearted intro, Her Space Holiday's mountain of midtempo, string-filled computer pop is overtaken by an avalanche of over-bearing emotions. When Grandma is dying in "Sleepy California" or a girl Bianchi used to know is defending her infidelity in "Japanese Gum" it's hard to imagine anything more beautifully heartbreaking. - Alternative Press |
