| Lovingly lush and deceptively subtle, Marc Bianchi's soft-core techno-pop is musically and technically mature, with its string loops and computer bloops rendering a remarkably human soundtrack. But what really captures your attention is how simple, honest and, yes, even quaint his songs feel. A soft-spoken romantic, Bianchi is equal parts self-effacing, sardonic and sappy as he takes a refreshingly reflective angle on cheating girlfriends, unrequited love, a mother's death, even those lowlife music critics. In his own way, Bianchi gets to the (broken) heart of the matter as movingly as any songwriter you've heard. - Isthmus |
