| I use the term emcee lightly when referring to cLOUDDEAD's mouthpieces. why?'s delivery is certainly original, especially when trading lines with the more sing-songy whispers of Doseone. Put these two vocal elements against a backdrop of odd nosdam's loopy percussion and bizarre found sounds and you've got some heady magic. The trio of cLOUDDEAD are more inventive on the first track, "Pop Song" than most artists could ever dream to be in their entire careers. In their few short years of existence, they've got listeners inventing new adjectives in an attempt to pin them down. But the fact is you can't put cLOUDDEAD in to any single genre. When listening to Ten, as well as cLOUDDEAD's previous group and solo work, two words pop into mind: psychedelic and original. The only sad note to bookend this amazing album is that it may be the group's last. Even if that is the case, it's a damn fine tombstone. - Monday |
