| Ten, the second album from Oakland's cLOUDDEAD, is another mixed bag of treats and surprises. Experimentation with their hip-hop sound is the key to its appeal and with Ten, we've got poetic samples, nursery-rhymes and power-drills. But this doesn't add up to endless, meaningless noise. The unconventional basslines and haunting vocals throw something very different into the hip-hop arena. The ever-expanding gun culture in America is acutely tackled on "Son of a Gun." It definitely hits its target. While recent single "Dead Dogs Two," pushes them more towards the indie-rock line. It might take a few listens, but if you're eager to have your imagination prodded, this is the right bandwagon to jump on. - Mega Star |
