| Operating light years ahead of now in his own musical orbit, Alfred Weisberg-Roberts has developed a musical style that can only quite rightly be called his own. Electronic stabs and spits pervade works of harmonic beauty to create a sound, which at once beguiles… but slightly disturbs. While last year's well received offering Exquisite Corpse could be loosely termed a hip-hop album, this second release for Ninja stems more clearly from Weisberg's techno and early acid roots with forays into carnival bossa. Together with a penchant for classical composition and cinematic scores, the blend of influences is an interesting one. The absence of any collaborations leaves Weisberg free to concentrate on darker and more complex sonic structures. Much of the production also uses live recording. Music that demands an open mind. - iDJ |
