| Hailing from Santa Monica, CA, this prolific one-man band dishes up some quality off kilter beats that would sound perfectly at home on the Ninja Tune label. Lines of dialog segue into drum 'n' bass beats on "At My Heels," the album's opening track. The album has a lighter, summery feeling than most electronica out today. Daedelus' creative sampling techniques (such as "Dreamt of Drowning") are some of the best I've heard in years. Denies the Day's Demise fuses many musical styles together to create a memorable album (he can quickly switch from the best songs Air never made to Brazilian funk to vicious drum 'n' bass beats). On "Lights Out," Daedelus creates an endless summer, finding middle ground between DJ Shadow, Pendulum, and Mylo. - Big Shot |
