| While mainstream hip-hop languishes in the wallets of thuggish dullards such as 50 Cent, an underground alternative is gathering momentum in LA. Not so much a rapper as a pyrotechnician of the spoken word, Regan Farguhar, aka Busdriver, is one of the most entertaining motor mouths working today. most of the time, the target of his breakneck satirical babble his himself and his bien-pensant audience - "hipsters dressed as Russian spies," as he calls them. The menu here favors 1970's orchestral samples over thumping beats, and the closest Busdriver gets to boasting comes in Yawning Zeigeist Intro: "I just wanna better chance as most likely I'll sell more records in France." - The Sunday Times |
