| Though usually found in the company of LA's underground hip-hop fraternity, Alfred Weisberg-Roberts, aka electronica eccentric Daedelus, has more in common with cinephiles John Barry and David Holmes. Awash with Hitchcock-style strings and Latino romance, Exquiste Corpse conjures a magical cut'n'paste dimension where genteel lounge sways to disembodied voices , clicks and beeps. While the abrasive machine noise should make for awkward or at least irritating listening, in practice the metallic pulse heightens rather than blights the dreamy ambience. - Q |
