| Daedelus is this weird guy who has been hanging around the underground in LA for the last few years, except that he's from Santa Monica. Anyone from LA knows that's a little different. He's kind of a cut-and-paste composr. He uses old music from the 30s and mixes it with weird techno and electronic music. Now he's doing hip-hop, and he's doing it pretty well. He worked with Busdriver, Madlib and a bunch of guys from Project Blowed. On this record, he's got all kinds of people: MF Doom, Prefuse 73, Jogger, Laura Darling, just to name a few. It's supposed to be a lament for hip-hop culture, but I don't hear that. I hear a weird, progressive hip-hop album that focuses on this guy's strange, out-of-the-box production. - Metro.Pop |
