| Hailing from San Francisco's hip-hop scene, cLOUDDEAD are part of the respected Anticon collective. This brooding debut is a welcome challenge to hip-hop's very raison d'etre. Recalling the sound of those hip-hop mavericks, Company Flow, cLOUDDEAD are as interested in mood and atmosphere as they are in conventions of rhyme and rhythm. While dark, lo-fi scratchiness prevails, the trio's left-field vision is in no way handicapped by technical primitivism. - The Times |
