| Doseone, why? and odd nosdam (a subgroup of the Bay Area's Anticon) offer a sound that is and isn't hip-hop. It is because it loosely conforms to hip-hop's beats and rhymes format; it isn't because is simultaneously takes that format much further. With influences that range from Pram and Eno to Velvet Underground and old Outkast, the group deliver an LP that is shrouded in a dense, inconceivable fog, where nasal raps float in and out of shadowy soundtracks and the mood varies from genuinely frightening to humorous and ultra dope. It's an acquired taste, but good once you get it. - DJ |
