| This CD collects the six super limited cLOUDDEAD ten-inches. Like Doseone's Them release, it is midtempo, contemplative super deconstructed free form hip-hop, but this time, there's two vocalists riffing over a dreamy dreary soundscape, framed by dirty scratchy beats and bizarre samples, sweeping minor key backdrops and whiny monochromatic vocals. And it is all about the vocals. I mean the music is fucking beautiful, haunting and mysterious, but it's the peculiar vocal delivery that will make it or break it for you. Kind of like an even whinier B-Real (of Cypress Hill), disembodied and monotone, the rapping is very sing-songy but more of note is the actual singing that pops up every once in a while! For real. Sounds weird, but it's actually quite appealing. - Aquarius |
