| To refer to this collection of ten-inches as "ambient" hip-hop, does no justice. It isn't even "experimental" per-se. Cincinnati's Doseone, why? and odd nosdam (along with guest Sole, Illogic, Dj Signify, Mr. Dibbs, and more) have created what I consider one of the better "chill" albums, and the crew could even give some of the best electronic acts a few tips. Comparisons are inevitable, and these guys could easily be paired with Gas/Mike Ink, Umo, Tom Waits, on a compilation. Lyrical delivery is assured - very solid, very prose-like. We get so many washes and smears of musical color, it's almost overwhelming. Some sections are just plain beautiful, just more evidence that hip-hop is and can be "art." Yeah, this isn't for everyone, but it's well worth it to turntablist heads, and those who dig this type of sound. - Insomniac |
