| Taking a departure from their usual output of experimental hip-hop, Mush puts out a great slice of thinking-man's electronic music, by Adelaide native, Clue to Kalo. Breathy vocals over subtle electric production make this an across the board treat. I ended up playing this for indie-rock purists who even ended up taking a shine to it. With the same type of moodiness that Bonnie Prince Billy has in his records, yet with processed production that updates it and makes it a bit more meaningful to me, as one that appreciates the sound of the new school digital sound more so than weeping guitars and bleeding-heart, going-nowhere instrumentation. It's lethargic enough in a meaningful way, but the backing has enough heart to it to really propel the record into another stratosphere of harmony. It certainly is a fresh, and exciting album full of enjoyable singing and musical structure. - Absorb |
