| Somewhere along the line Radiohead came across artists like Autechre and Aphex Twin. This resulted in the world's first mainstream appearance of IDM-rock taking place in the form of Kid A. Come 2003 and Clue to Kalo has molded the genre into a more coherent form. Come Here When You Sleepwalk takes the listener through a pastel-toned mist spattered with sparks of florescent percussion. Rather than using vocals like black text over paper, Mark Mitchell uses them sparingly and then only as colored pencil would make watercolor more vibrant. This album is a must for anyone in search of downtempo work that promotes restrained yet passionate head bobbing. Instead of a downtrodden aura Kid A exudes at moments, Clue to Kalo fits like a warm jacket on a windy night. - Long Beach Union |
