| It's the initial North American foray by Australian singer-lap-topper Mark Mitchell, aka Clue to Kalo. The Aussie ushers in a glorious spring with his squelchy soft synchs, arrhythmic percussion and sunny-side-up vocals. Come Here When You Sleepwalk sounds like Slowdive and Boards of Canada jamming together in Central Park. The Adelaide native does not shatter the earth, but he makes it a far nicer place to live. There's an eerie industrial hum here that undercuts Mitchell's otherwise blissful pastoral mood, reminding us that there's no escape from the clamor of post-industrial life. Still, records like these give us cause to sing. - Urb |
